The OG's, the newbies, and everything in between.
Jade Bird was one of the first artists, if not the first, I fell in love with on my own since her Something American E.P. . I also give her credit for my drive to start guitar. She's absolutely a powerhouse, never holding back between her vocals & the messages conveyed within her songs, creating an honest reality. Recently releasing two singles from an upcoming album, Headstart & Houdini, which are sonically contrasting, I'm really excited to hear what her sophomore album holds. It's such a cool thing to be able to watch an artist grow whether that be in sound or in numbers, seeing her on The Tonight Show, I could not stop smiling.
Wow. Flyte. This group is sooo talented. I only recently discovered them late last year, but they've just hit the sweet spot for me. From their almost petulant, I've Got a Girl to Never Get To Heaven, a wistful, yet lovely song. They have a very unique sound that can solely be found in their voices & such a variety that's bound to go far. I love a band that leaves you guessing for what their next release might sound like. I can't help but think of the band America performing Ventura Highway when I watch them perform here.
Another one of my first artists, and if I recall correctly, Saint Raymond was the first artist I ever played on Spotify (ex-Pandora user & never going back). Familiar with Wild Heart' , courtesy of FIFA 15 always playing in my house, the songs became practically ingrained in my mind, particularly Raymond's sticking around. I have so many great memories with SR's songs, often associating them with each other. I'm looking forward to ' We Forgot We Were Dreaming ' (out 4/16), because I know it will not disappoint.
I struggle to find one bad song from them. Seriously. Each song they've put out from their upcoming album, 'Roses', out March 12th, has just been spot on. The Paper Kites always excel with presenting their album themes throughout their album covers, instrumentals, songs, basically and overall. Their theme & sound is so consistent, but they manage to make each song sound fresh & new. They're perfect for studying or just winding down your day.
Apteekii being a new band with one release, "What's Real", leaves us dwelling in their potential sound & a clear palette leaving me ready for what they have next for us. They describe themselves as "...music for a dystopian film with hope for the future", which off of this song, I can definitely hear it. Given the group's name, I sense a lot of creativity coming from them, almost in the Radiohead-type way???
Now I haven't listened to much Bleachers besides the popular ones, but his most recent releases, "45" & "chinatown", making a big statement featuring music legend Bruce Springsteen, is enough to perk my ear up for any upcoming releases. I hear a possible sound theme for his upcoming album & potentially a new road trip anthem....
